The Car That Stole the Show

Writer: Natalie MaherNatalie Maher

When Paul bought the car seven and a half years ago, he had no idea just how long it would sit in the yard. The plan was simple—he and his partner took a trip up the country to collect it, and he confidently declared it would be back on the road in “a couple of weeks.” But as time passed, life got in the way. The weeks turned into months, then years, and the car remained untouched.

That all changed when Paul and his longtime love set their wedding date for December. Suddenly, the car that had been sitting idle for seven years had a deadline. He was determined to have it ready for the big day.

With just two weeks to go, the car didn’t even have an engine in it. It seemed like an impossible task, but Paul wasn’t alone. Friends and family rallied around him, working tirelessly to bring his vision to life. Night after night, they put in the hours, pushing right up until the very last moment. At 4 AM on the morning of the wedding, after countless late nights and endless determination, the car finally roared to life.

And on the wedding day? It was flawless. The car didn’t miss a beat, rolling up in style and stealing the show.

But Paul and his bride’s love story goes back much further than the car. They met when she was just 13 and he was 16—her best friend’s older brother. What started as a childhood connection grew into something lasting, and through the years, they built a life together. Now, with their two little boys, Cody and Brayden, who have inherited their father’s passion for cars, their journey has come full circle.

The wedding was a celebration of love, family, and perseverance—but for Paul, it was also proof that sometimes, the best things are worth the wait.
